Mr. Jose Luis Heras Cordon was born to a family of winemakers. A portion of the vines used to produce the Heras Cordon wines today were planted by his grandfather. His father continued with the business, but Jose Luis chose a slightly different route. Jose Luis founded a company that specializes in preparing land for vineyards all over Spain, which he has developed into a lucrative business over the past 20 years. His path not only provided him with the funds to build his stunning new bodega, but also gave him the in-depth knowledge of the best vineyards in Rioja.

The new bodega rivals the very best in Rioja with its architectural beauty, general grandeur, and state of the art equipment. Being a connoisseur of fine wines, but not a winemaker, Jose Luis has the business sense and the finances available from his vineyard excavation business to hire the best talent available in all areas, including Alejandra Roxane Schmedes from Bodegas Ramirez de Ganuza as his winemaker.

Jose Luis loved the tradition of community ?cellar-sharing? in which neighbors congregated in town cellars to make wine together. He has replicated this practice in his bodega with a modern twist. Groups can get together to buy a portion of his wine for their own consumption. It is stored in their personal cave space in the bodega and labeled with a personal label. The bodega also has an elegant bar and restaurant in the cave for the wine club members to enjoy.
