Cooperjucar -- Cooperative Group

La Mancha is the largest wine region in Spain; however, 5 microclimatic sub-zones have recently been recognized. The first of these subzones to attain D. O. status was Ribera del Jucar. The Cooperjucar Cooperative Group is comprised of four wineries in the D.O.s of La Mancha and Ribera del Jucar. Cooperjucar has invested heavily to modernize each facility to ensure quality and consistent wine production. The wineries are located in and around Casas de Haro, one of the only areas of La Mancha with 90% red grape production from older Tempranillo vines. Additionally, this area of La Mancha has traditionally yielded more complex and high-quality red wines.

The vineyards are located near the banks of the Jucar River, which helps to temper the extreme heat of Castilla La Mancha. The soil is deep limestone and clay with glossy round stones on the surface, which help to retain moisture and reflect the sun, ripening the underside of the grape clusters.
