Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do you supply directly to consumers?

    Frontier Wine Imports is a licensed importer,  Federal and state laws prohibit us from selling directly to consumers,  We are only allowed to sell to a licensed distributor, who then sells to a licensed retail store or a licensed restaurant,  Consumers must make their purchase from the retail store or the restaurant.

  2. Do you sell to retail stores?

    Frontier Wine Imports is a licensed importer,  We are only allowed to sell to a licensed distributor, who then sells to a licensed retail store,  The licensed retail store must have a valid alcoholic beverage license that is issued by their appropriate state authority.

  3. How long after I, a licensed distributor, place a purchase order will the order be ready for pick up?

    Shipments are generally processed and prepared within 24 hours of our receipt of your purchase order,  All of our shipments are palletized, shrink wrapped, and appropriately labeled,  The most common cause which delays this process is information that is missing from our distributor’s purchase order,  Please refer to the ordering section of our website for a sample purchase order, which contains all of the information that we need to process a purchase order.

  4. What happens if my wine is out of stock?

    When we receive a purchase order from one of our distributors, we check that all of the items that are ordered are in stock,  If an item is out of stock, we will contact you to give you the estimated date that the item will be back in stock,  You have two options: You may choose to hold up the entire purchase order to wait for the out of stock item to arrive,  Or, you may choose to ship the purchase order without the missing item,  When the out of stock item is back in our inventory, we will contact you and you may add it to your next purchase order.

  5. What are your quality control procedures?

    We use climate controlled vehicles and containers to make the shipments of our portfolio from our producers to our warehouse,  We inventory our entire portfolio in our warehouse that we own in New Jersey,  Our warehouse is climate controlled,  We check all of the items when they arrive in our warehouse, and we perform random checks of our portfolio while it is in storage in our warehouse,  We palletize, shrink wrap, and label all outgoing orders,  When the transport company that you send to our warehouse arrives to pick up your purchase order, we load their vehicle,  Once the products leave our warehouse, we continue to stand behind them to the satisfaction of our distributor and their customers.

  6. What happens if the shipment is faulty or defective?

    We stand behind our entire portfolio,  We will replace, apply an appropriate credit, etc,  to our distributor’s satisfaction any item that our distributor deems to be faulty or defective.

  7. How can I get a price or product list?

    We maintain an updated price or product list for sale of our portfolio to our distributors,  Please contact us for an updated copy.

  8. What are the shipping charges?

    Our standard wholesale price list is based on FOB our warehouse in Dover, New Jersey,  The transportation costs to pick up from our warehouse are borne by our distributor.

  9. What is your minimum quantity for a purchase order?

    We have no minimum quantities for preparing a purchase order,  On the other hand, you may find that your transportation company may impose a minimum quantity in order for them to make the pick up and delivery to you.

  10. What credit options are available?

    We will do a standard credit check on each new distributor when we start to do business and possibly at periodic intervals thereafter,  Subject to an acceptable credit check, our normal payment terms are 60 days from the date of your pick up, unless your state authority requires a lesser payment period, which they require us to impose on you.

  11. What payment options are available?

    We accept company check payable to ‘Frontier Wine Imports’ for each purchase order.

  12. What discounts are available?

    Since we do not impose minimum quantities or other restrictions on our distributors and our price list is based on individual cases, our standard policy is not to offer discounts.

  13. What promotions are you currently running?

    We work with our distributors on an individual distributor basis and/or an item by item basis to offer a promotion from time to time,  When we do, we review the promotion periodically to ascertain its meaningfulness and value.

  14. Do you have exclusive wines?

    We rely on our distributors to determine whether they want to offer an item in our portfolio to a particular customer on an exclusive basis,  Additionally, we have a few items, which we import for specific customers.

  15. Do you import organic wines?

    We have one wine in our portfolio, which is certified organic.  Many of the wines in our portfolio are produced organically, but the winery has not obtained the required organic certification,  Consequently, the wines in this latter category are not permitted to state ‘organic’ on their labels.

  16. Do you import Kosher wines?

    We import one Kosher wine.

  17. Do you stock older vintages?

    Spanish wine producers do the aging themselves and release each vintage when they feel the vintage is ready for consumption,  Consequently, the vintage that we have in stock is the current vintage for most of the wines in our portfolio,  However, we inventory all of the ports that our port producer has going back to 1937.

  18. Can I request a wine that you don't currently carry?

    We evaluate requests to import a special wine on an individual basis, which is basically determined by how much benefit it can add to our relationship with our distributor,  Otherwise, the level of effort and expense involved to obtain all of the necessary approvals and registrations make it prohibitive to import a small amount of a special wine.

  19. Can I have a custom label on my house wine?

    We import a few custom labels,  We evaluate requests for additional custom labels on an individual basis,  The criteria is based our ability to satisfy the winery’s requirement to print their minimum quantity of custom labels.

  20. Would you help with staff training?

    Our regional managers work with our distributors' sales persons and possibly with their customers' staff directly to do staff training.

  21. How often do you change your inventory?

    We practice first-in / first-out for the inventory in our warehouse,  Additionally, the amount of inventory that we stock for each item depends on the sales of that item.

  22. Will you help me with promotions?

    We will entertain all requests for assistance with promotions,  Our determination is based on the anticipated return on our investment in the promotion.

  23. Can you present tastings?

    We do trade tastings on a regular basis and consumer tastings on an individual basis.

  24. Can I have copies of labels, pictures, and tasting notes?

    We have labels and tasting notes for all of the items in our portfolio,  We have some pictures,  We make all of the information that we have available to our distributors.
